Are we there yet?
Here are four good car games for ages 4 and up.
- Person A says a random word (like pink, stereo, President Reagan, whatever) and Person B says what it reminds them of. So does C, D, and whoever else you managed to con into this long car trip. Person B thinks up their own word and so on. It’s especially fun with kids because you get to find out more about how their brains work.
- Person A says a random word (like popcorn), Person B says just one word that reminds them of (like movies), Person C does the same (Jurassic Park) and you go on until no one can go any farther.
- This one is more for ages 10 and up. Pick a subject, like movies, tv, kinds of trees, actresses over 40, whatever. Each person takes turns saying something that falls under that subject until you’re completely tapped out.
- Turn on the radio. Find instrumental music, if you can. Person A says what would be happening in a movie if this music were playing. Everyone gets a turn, then you pick new music. The results of our game follow.
- Sage: It’s a woman, jogging along the beach, a really long camera shot.
- Todd: It’s the beginning of a terribly sad movie, and you know something is going to happen to ruin all their lives, but this is the morning before and no one knows it’s going to happen. It’s a montage of getting ready for school, work, etc.
- Paul: It’s Tyrannosaurus Rex and he’s playing music on a HUGE guitar!
