  10. I was driving home yesterday from a late evening meeting in Newmarket (I live in Oakville) and heard your podcast on CBC Radio. I thought it was brilliant. I loved seeing my community through your eyes. I sat in my driveway to catch the end of your program and after a while my wife came out in a lather thinking I was sick or something. She seemed glad I wasn’t but I could tell she thought I might be going senile or worse(sigh). Anyway … keep up the great work. I think you are very talented.

My young adult son has recently moved to Toronto, and I’ve been there once so far to visit him (we rode that very subway line, in fact!) so I listened with great interest to your take, as a similar-age young person, on his new community.

  61. Ooh, have I not yet commented on this post?

    I’m in lovely Keene, NH.

Did you know that the pumpkin was just declared the NH state fruit? Keene is home to a big pumpkin festival every October. I believe we currently hold the world record for having the most lit jack-o-lanterns in one place. Boston tried to beat us one year, but really, there’s no beating small town spirit. Boston lost.

Keene is also relatively close to Mt. Monadnock, for which a whole *type of mountain* was named. Pretty cool, eh?

I like my adopted home. :-)

  140. Hi, Sage and family,
I’m in Seattle, in the Ballard neighborhood. I’ve just discovered your podcast as a result of listening to Brenda Dayne’s podcast, Cast On. I’ve now started listening to your archive from the beginning - what a wonderful program.

I’m new to your podcast, got onto it, like Sue above, from the bodacious Brenda of Cast-On! Every time I heard you do an essay or heard your promo I’d say to myself again “You’ve GOT to check out quirky!” So now I have :) Hurrah! Keep it up chica!

  148. I’m on the Secluded Wooded Lot, known as the SWL to my friends, fans and readers (three non-discrete groups, admittedly). This is my little plot of land in the woods of Pennsylvania. The nearest town of any note (on maps, at least) is called Emporium - it’s 4.5 miles as the crow flies, but a 45 minute drive, the first third of which is done without benefit of pavement. There are, for the record, no emporiums in Emporium. It’s a great place to be, just the same.
