I must be one of those strange people that doesn't mind being approached by the LDS, or Mormons as they are commonly called. I actually had them over to my house for eight weeks.

I don't share their beliefs. In fact I am not of the Christian faith at all but that doesn't mean that I can't have a conversation with them. I always tell them right from the start that I am not looking to be converted and that I don't hold the same beliefs but I don't mind discussing it.

I don't necessarily agree with sending out teenagers straight out of high school to try to save the world but I do admire their zeal. They do not HAVE to go on a mission (it is strongly recommended but not NECESSARY). Many do this because they truly believe this. They may be somewhat pushy while still being polite but they are less bothersome to me than people of other faiths that try to convert people. I have nothing against Jehovah's Witnesses but to me they are far pushier and hand out literature right away without even asking if you want it. At least the Mormons ask. If I choose to say no simply because I don't want another tree killed to print up another book then that is my choice. I have had The Watch Tower pushed into my hands without even being greeted.

Everyone believes in something. Even if it is not believing in anything at all. Some choose to advertise their convictions and try to get others to join. Others do not affiliate themselves with any religious organization but hold to their beliefs privately.

Personally, I would rather have an intelligent conversation with a Mormon,Jehovah's Witness, Hare Krishna, Christian, Muslim Buddhist, Jew, etc., than deal with a telemarketer who could care less if I went to hell or not.

Incidentally, to those of you who may be worried about the two missionaries who don't seem to like each other, the missionaries, while out for two years trying to broaden the horizons of others, do not need to stay together for the two years. They are placed according to the plans of the Church and they change partners and areas quite frequently during that time.....Just in case you were worried :)
