That was amazing. Chilling at times. I do resonate with the focus on not having known the guy. I sort of felt that way after the horrible nightclub fire here in Rhode Island that killed 100 people. I didn’t know anyone who died in it, but I read all of their profiles in the paper and wished that I could have known some of them.
I also slightly knew a guy in high school who, years later, shot up a bar and then went on the run and later committed suicide when the cops found him. (No, it’s not the case that happened this year in Massachusetts if anyone is wondering.) That was a weird feeling too. He was the same year in school as my little brother although my brother didn’t know him, and I only knew him slightly.
Wow…that’s all that I can say. That is excellent writing about a frightening state and position she was in. I am so sorry that the world’s young people have to live in fear. Wow.
One of my daughters is fourteen and completely oblivious to the dangers of the world around her, despite my many warnings. I worry about the time when her eye-opening experience will happen, as I know it will one day. *sigh*
An amazing accounting from a brave young lady. I could feel the intensity of the experience and feel the pain. What a writer! What a 14 year old!
Wow, that was powerful. What an amazing young lady. I have a 13 year old, and part of me wants to tell her about what can happen and part of me wants to keep her innocent. I’m going to have her listen to this later.
The sound kept cutting in and out on this episode. Was that intentional or perhaps a remnant of whatever problem occurred in the last episode?
